Before starting engine

  • Brakes > FULLY APPLIED
  • Control stick > FULL AFT
  • Master switch > OFF
  • Throttle > IDLE

Starting engine

  • Standby flight instruments > SET / CHECK
  • Master Switch > ON
  • Throttle > IDLE
  • Control stick > FULL AFT
  • Brakes > FULLY APPLIED
  • Propeller area > CLEAR
  • Starter > ENGAGE

After starting engine

  • Throttle > IDLE
  • Radiator temperature > CHECK
  • Exhaust gas temperature > CHECK
  • Propeller area > CLEAR
  • Brakes > RELEASED

Before takeoff

  • Nose and tail wheel > CHECK
  • Brakes > FULLY APPLIED
  • Control stick > FREE AND CORRECT, FULL TRAVEL
  • Control stick > FULL AFT
  • Magnetos > ENGINE RUNNING
  • Magnetos > CUTOFF TEST
  • Starter > ENGAGE
  • Engine Idle > CHECK

Normal takeoff

  • Brakes > RELEASED
  • Throttle > FULL
  • Rudder > MAINTAIN AXIS
  • Rotation speed > pitch up 10deg at 28mph

Initial climb

  • Airspeeds, best rate-of-climb > 26 KIAS / 30 mph
  • Throttle > Full
  • RPM > 7700-8000 RPM, 100% power

Cruise

  • Airspeed > 43 KIAS / 50 mph

Approach

  • Airspeed > reduce below 26 KIAS / 30 mph

After touchdown

  • Ground speed > Reduce below 30 km/h / 18 mph
  • Control stick > FULL AFT

Shutdown

  • Nose and tail wheel > CHECK
  • Brakes > FULLY APPLIED
  • Throttle > IDLE
  • Cool down > CHECK
  • Master switch > OFF
